How to reach us

Facing the calm Rio di Santa Fosca, in the heart of Cannaregio, Hotel Ca’ Vendramin di Santa Fosca is located in a privileged position as it is central and yet off the majority of tourist paths. It is thirty meters from Strada Nova, one of the main pedestrian arteries of the city. The area is picturesque and lively with lots of shops and “Bacari” (typical Venetian restaurants) and the location of a colorful local market. A fifteen minute walk along Strada Nova takes you to Rialto Bridge, from the characteristic structure that gathers together the oldest goldsmiths in Venice. Just 5 minutes further, crossing Mercerie, you reach the alleys full of Italian and international designer boutiques and then you arrive to the splendid St. Mark’s Square. Here you can admire: the Basilica of St. Mark, with its unmistakable, almost Oriental profile and custodian of priceless artistic treasures, including the beautiful, sparking Byzantine mosaics that decorate the 8,000 meters squared interior of the basilica; the bell-tower, with its sixteenth-century Sansovino loggia; the Palazzo Ducale, a splendid example of absolute Gothic architecture (the interior is fabulous with huge rooms and enormous paintings by the most famous artists from Veneto); the Procuratie, the portico buildings that enclose the square and the location of the most important public museum in Venice, the Correr Museum.

Hotel Ca’ Vendramin di Santa Fosca is also extremely convenient for public transport. The “Ca’ D’Oro” vaporetto line 1 stop that serves the Grand Canal, the main, magnificent waterway in the city, is just 3 minutes from the hotel, as well as the water taxi service that conveniently arrives to the hotel entrance.

Just a stroll from Ca’ Vendramin di Santa Fosca, you can discover a lesser known Venice which is equally full of charm and artistic treasures, for example another Ca’ Vendramin, the Vendramin Calergi, the location of Venice Casino and a splendid example of Renaissance architecture. It was home to the famous musician Richard Wagner, who died there in 1883. The rooms where the musician lived have been transformed into a wonderful museum, which is very interesting for music lovers. Or Ca’ D’Oro, a wonderful fifteenth-century noble residence, today the Galleria Franchetti, which hosts a precious collection of paintings, including the famous “St. Sebastian” by Mantegna, as well as works by some of the greatest painters from sixteenth-century Veneto and Flanders. You can also admire the sumptuous eighteenth-century Palazzo Labia which includes a marvelous sequence of frescos by Tiepolo.

The evocative Ghetto of Venice, the oldest ghetto in the world, was built by the Republic of Venice in 1516 and finally closed by Napoleon in 1797. It is located beside the Campo del Ghetto Novo, where you can find the extremely interesting Hebrew Museum and the ancient Schole, the five synagogues in the Ghetto.
