La Traviata at La Fenice

Enjoy the Giuseppe Verdi Opera at Teatro La Fenice

Touching, bitter and without illusions, Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata returns to the La Fenice, under the direction of Robert Carsen. An opera which strikes both the heart and the mind, denuncing the vices and evils of the past and present, almost giving us the felling of “spying” on the lead character, Violetta, a courtesan with a big heart.

The love story between Violetta and the young and respectable Alfredo is at the center of a web of events involving money and the hypocrisy of a bourgeoisie without any values.

Social prejudice will separate the lovers, who will be able to reunite just a few moments before Violetta’s death because of consumption, when truth finally triumphs.

The eternal dramatic clasj between love and death expressed with the utmost level of operatic poetry is the core of Verdi’s inspiration and the propelling force of the Opera.

The opera will be at Teatro La Fenice on August 30 and 31 and September 1, 3, 8, 10, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 25, 27, 28.
