Lynn Davis in Venice

A new exhibition at Archeological Museum

Lynn Davis is considered one of the finest photographers of the American landscape. In Venice an exhobition with one of most impressive collections of large photographs, all centered on the epiphany of the sacred man, monumental tombs in the desert, temples that rise like stalagmites in the plain, stately structures that emerge from the mountains, are the images that the photographer prefers today, in its constant search of a “timeless” that conveys a sense of the absolute.

For this reason, exposure to the archaeological museum has a double meaning: the photographs not only enter into a relationship with the viewer’s gaze, but also with the findings kept in the museum that ideally form part of the research of Lynn Davis, both as the objects themselves in a single thread with the collections of antiquities born in the Renaissance with Domenico and Giovanni Grimani.

The exhibition, curated by Marco Meneguzzo, will be open from 22 September 2012 to 13 January 2013 at the Rooms of the Archaeological Museum of Venice every day from 10 am to 7 pm.
