Opening of the opera season 2012-2013

Friday, November 16, 2012 at 7pm the 2012-2013 opera season opens at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, with a new production of Otello, opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi.

The evening, followed on November 18 by the first of Tristan und Isolde by Richard Wagner, will be the first of the double door opening dedicated to the bicentenary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner: a major commitment that will see production for the second half of November the two works side by side every other day with fittings and cast but with one different musical direction, headed by master Korean Myung-Whun Chung.

The staging of Othello will be signed by the director Francesco Micheli, production designer and costume designer Edoardo Sanchi and Silvia Aymonio, and will be repeated in July in the courtyard of Palazzo Ducale during the Festival “The spirit of music in Venice.”
