Goldoni house
Native home of Carlo Goldoni
Goldoni house is located in the sestiere of San Polo, close to campo San Tomà.
Officially known as Ca’ Centani, it was erected in XV century and still conserves typical architectonical features of that age. The most famous Venetian playwright was born here in 1707, so the museum of Goldoni house (which is also a study for theatre studies and a library) focuses on the figure of Carlo Goldoni, whose plays (mostly in Venetian ldialect) represented the late Venetian society in a faithful and ironic way.
An XVIII century puppet theatre is also on display, that had belonged to the noble Grimani family.
Vaporetto stop: San Tomà, on the Grand Canal.
