Goldoni theatre

Goldoni theatre

Goldoni Theatre in Venice is home to the acting company Teatro Stabile del Veneto, which runs other two important theatres in Padua and Vicenza, too.
The building, dating back to 1622, was previously known as Teatro Vendramin or Teatro San Luca, but was renamed Teatro Goldoni in 1875 in order to honour the famous Venetian comedy writer, who had been working here. Another important guest of the theatre was actress Eleonora Duse in the beginning of XX century.
Goldoni Theatre is the most important theatre of Venice with regards to dramas, but also ballet, opera and concerts are performed.
