Pinault Museum

Pinault Museum

The Contemporary Art Museum of Venice, popularly also known as Pinault Museum, was opened in 2009 in the buildings of the ancient toll of Venice at the Punta della Dogana.
A private museum, it hosts the private collection of French billionaire and collector François Pinault, who bought this prestigious space and hired Japanese architect Tadao Ando for its restoration (the same who worked on Palazzo Grassi, another Venetian palace now belonging to Pinault).
Pinault Museum was a very controversial project, both for the choice of the location and for the pieces of art exposed, by some of the most controversial artists of the world.
