San Giovanni Crisostomo (Church)

S Giovanni Crisostomo church

San Giovanni Grisostomo, the last work of architect Codussi, is an important example of Renaissance style, characterized by the search for harmonious proportions in the exterior features.
Despite this Renaissance spirit, this is one of the very few churches in Western world to have been dedicated to this saint, a patriarch of Constantinople – this tells us about the special relationships of Venice with the Eastern Mediterranean.
San Giovanni Grisostomo church houses paintings by Bellini and Del Piombo.

Close to Rialto bridge on the Cannaregio side, it might be difficult to notice it as it is facing a very central and crowded road.
