San Silvestro (Church)

Heavily rebuilt

San Silvestro church of Venice is from IX century, although it has been heavily rebuilt due to collapsing and static problems.
The today’s feature dates back mostly to XIX (while the facade is from beginning of XX century). Most of its art went missing: the Adoration of the Kings by Veronese is nowadays at the National Gallery of London, allegedly sold during the XIX restauration due to economical problems.

San Silvestro church is at a short distance from Rialto bridge, on San Polo side. Water bus stop: San Silvestro.
