Santa Maria dei Miracoli (Church)

A marble treasure

Santa Maria dei Miracoli in Venice (Saint Mary of the Miracles) was built in 1480 in this quiet corner of Cannaregio, alongside the narrow canal, in order to worship an image of Saint Mary which was previously located on the square. This image was believed to have done several miracles, including bringing back to life a drowned person; it is now on the main altar.
Designed by Pietro Lombardo, this church is made in marble, with different colours creating inspiring cromatic effects.
Santa Maria dei Miracoli is very popular among Venetians for wedding ceremonies.

The church is located on campiello dei Miracoli, in Cannaregio district, and it is open from Monday to Saturday from 10.00 to 17.00.
