Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista

The scuola of Saint John the Evangelist

Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista (Saint John the Evangelist) is located in San Polo district, not far from the railway station. Passers-by are often amazed by the white marble door that separates the alley from the little square of the scuola and its church. On the top of this door an eagle is sculpted, to symbolize Saint John.
As usually, the most valuable paintings are on the first floor; among them, artworks by Bellini and Carpaccio.

Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista today is used for concerts, congresses and private parties, and it is also open for visits on specific days and times.
