Scuola Grande di San Marco

Scuola Grande di San Marco was founded in 1260, as the site of Saint Mark’s brotherhood. Its Renaissance style facade (with Byzantine elements) was designed by Lombardo and Codussi.
Scuola Grande di San Marco nowadays is part of the Public Hospital of Venice, on campo San Giovanni and Paolo. Its palatial marble entrance is also the main entrance to the hospital but, due to its use, the scuola is not open for visits.
