Venetian terraces

 The altane are a special kind of terrace, typical of Venice. Such a Venetian terraces are made in wood and are built on the top of the roofs: supported by pillars, Venice altane are a privileged place from where it is possible to enjoy an amazing view on the surrounding areas.
The idea of the altana probably comes from the lack of space to build a terrace at a lower level, due to the proximity of the buildings. The lucky owners of a Venetian altana can use it to sunbath, to rest or to have romantic dinners in the summer season.
