A red carpet on the Lido beach

 World famous island of Lido di Venezia is home to one of the oldest film festivals in the world: Venice Film Festival takes place every year on this long, narrow island located just between the lagoon and the Adriatic sea. This peculiar position makes very easy to reach Venice and Saint Mark from Lido island, and at the same time its sandy beaches on the sea side make it a popular holiday destination in summer time. While its beaches attract tourists since the end of XIX century (the famous novel Death in Venice by Thomas Mann was set here), art lovers will find charming Art Nouveau villas in the interior of Lido island.
