What to Do In Venice Today

Events both traditional and contemporary

Don’t know what to do in Venice? No problem. This city on the water offers a myriad of ideas on how to spend your vacation the way you planned it. You can choose between many different options: to relax, have fun, seek out new experiences in fine food and wine, or dedicate your stay entirely to art.

Venice is in fact a city devoted to art. Here you will find museums for every artistic taste, permanent collections and some of the many temporary exhibitions that are periodically organized in the lagoon.

But Venice is also music, theatre and dance. This means concerts in the institutions of performing arts such as La Fenice, Palazzetto Bru Zane, or plays at the Teatro Goldoni or in the minor but avant-garde, even cutting-edge, theatres such as the Teatro Fondamenta Nuove.

Then there is music for young people, which enlivens the many bars of the historic city centre, concentrated in particular around campo Santa Margherita, Rialto and the Fondamenta della Misericordia. Just think, you could arrive by boat, step ashore and enjoy a cocktail right here on the Fondamenta, at sunset.

If on the contrary you are looking for more exciting nightlife, in the Movida style, just take a bus to nearby Mestre, which boasts a fair number of nightclubs.

Remember that there are two Casinos in Venice where you can try your luck and spend an evening engaged in a more unusual pastime: there is one in Venice, at Ca’ Vendramin Calergi, and one at Ca’ Noghera in Mestre.

So you see, Venice is a peaceful city, but brimming with events and things to do. The choice is yours!
