Lace Museum
Lace Museum
The Lace Museum of Venice opened in 1981 in the building that was previously the site of the Burano Lace school (1872-1970), of which it inherited old handiworks and drawings.
The museum displays ancient and modern items, while didactic panels illustrate the different points and techniques used on lace. A video with English subtitles makes the visit accessible to a wide range of International visitors.
During opening hours, the Lace Museum offers the possibility to observe lace makers at work, an opportunity not to miss since nowadays there are only a few ladies still able to produce the traditional Burano lace.
Lace Museum stays on the central piazza Galuppi, on Burano island.
