Art

Venice is a miracle. Of art and engineering, of architecture, colours, flavours. Of beauty. Impossible not to fall in love with it. With its marble churches, its magnificent palaces, stuccoes, decorations, its collections of thousands of paintings, sculptures, silks, archaeological finds, antique books and everything else that can illuminate your eyes and feed your curiosity. Venice has one of the most important museum systems in the world, and it is in and of itself a dazzling work of art, a treasure trove that we suggest that you discover and enjoy. There is something for everyone: from the contemporary art of Cà Pesaro, the Guggenheim, Punta della Dogana and Palazzo Grassi to Ca’ Rezzonico – the Museum of Eighteenth-Century Venice and the Renaissance art at the Gallerie dell’Accademia, from the art of textiles at Ca’ Mocenigo to the splendid collections preserved at the Correr, from the Glass Museum of Murano to the Lace Museum of Burano, which display the magnificent work of the artistic craft industries. But most important of all is the pearl of pink and white lacework: the Doge’s Palace. And the Scuole Grandi, which were once religious and trade confraternities and today exhibit priceless treasures, such as the cycle of paintings by Tintoretto in the Scuola Grande San Rocco.

The same structures are often the venues for major world-class exhibitions. There is no artist of the past or present who has not been celebrated in Venice. Temporary or permanent exhibitions, organized by institutions and foundations the most important of which is La Biennale di Venezia, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
