Le Mercerie, the shopping street

Between Rialto and San Marco there are the most famous streets for shopping in Venice: le Mercerie. Here you will find shops and boutiques of the largest top Italian and international fashion .

Le Mercerie are accessible by line 2 and get off at the Rialto stop, or crossing the Rialto Bridge towards San Marco .

Le Mercerie are not a single street, but a series of narrow streets that are divided into Mercerie dell’Orologio, Mercerie of San Zulian, Mercerie del Capitello e Mercerie San Salvador. Their name is derived by the commercial that at the time of the Serenissima was practiced here: namely, the sale of valuable goods that were derived from trade with the East.

Past Piazza San Marco , another area famous for luxury shopping in Venice is Calle Larga XXII Marzo, where also are located beautiful clothing boutiques and art galleries.

The shops are lined up one behind the other, from La Perla to the impalpable linen bags Furla and Coccinelle , then find the Duca D’ Aosta, Pal Zileri, a store of Swatch watches and shoes Geox, and then Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Jeckerson, Cartier, Luisa Spagnoli, the Ferrari Store, Max Mara, Intimissimi, Swarovski, Trussardi , Camper , Marina Yachting, Falconeri , Baily, Timberland, Stefanel, Bulgari, Bruno Magli, Versace, Ferragamo, Damiani, Pomellato, Tod ‘s, Etro, Chanel, Hermes and many more.

In times of slashing these stores are overrun by tourists, especially foreigners, who appreciate Italian fashion for its style and elegance .
