Grand Canal

The main way to the city centre: Grand Canal

The Grand Canal of Venice is the most famous waterway of the world. S-shaped, the Grand Canal is approximately 4 km long and has a maximum depth of 5 meters. Whith all kinds of boats sailing it daily (from taxi to public boats, from ambulances to gondolas), the Grand Canal provides a unique approach to Venice for tourists coming here for the first time. We recommend you rent a tourist boat, a taxi or, even better, a gondola, to get to know the Canal Grande of Venice in the most romantic way. Or just climb on the top of one of its four bridges and spend some time to admire the vivacious life which takes place under your eyes.
