 What makes Venice unique today is the fact that it is one of the few cities in the world where it is not possible to drive a car, nor ride a bike. The only possible means of transportation are the various kinds of Venetian boats.
Among the most popular boats of Venice there are the caorlina (fore and aft are crescent-shaped), today used in the Regata Storica and in other boat races, the sandolo, a flat-bottomed boat, and obviously the gondola.
A gondola, characterized by an asymmetric design, can accommodate until six people, more the gondoliere. Extremely popular among tourists, it is the symbol of Venice and the most famous Venetian boat.
